• A concise yet powerful name for a program focusing on Muslim men’s behaviour change and personal growth.

• The Arabic term Islah ( إصلاح) ( means “reform,” “improvement,” or “reconciliation,” capturing the essence of self-correction, healing, and the restoration of moral and social harmony.

• The word “Circle” implies communal support, unity, and equality among participants, fostering a safe space where individuals share experiences and learn from one another without hierarchy. By merging these two concepts, the name conveys a comprehensive mission: to restore men’s relationships with themselves, their families, and their communities through compassionate group engagement.

Rationale

“Islah Circle” aligns seamlessly with the Islamic ethos of character development and positive transformation. Within the Islamic tradition, Islah underscores personal responsibility, accountability, and ongoing self-improvement—qualities that are especially pertinent in a behaviour-change context. Including the concept of “Circle” highlights the communal aspect of healing, reflecting a commitment to shared learning, solidarity, and mutual respect. This collective setting reinforces a sense of brotherhood and shared purpose, encouraging participants to support one another through each step of their journey
Rationale

Importance

Choosing the name “Islah Circle” demonstrates a thoughtful approach to addressing destructive or harmful behaviours with compassion, rather than through judgment or punishment. By invoking religiously grounded values, it resonates with participants’ spiritual identities, prompting them to draw on their faith as a wellspring of motivation and hope. The term “Islah” also makes it clear that the focus extends beyond mere cessation of problematic behaviour, encompassing a deeper, enduring transformation. In this way, the name signals the program’s trauma-informed and culturally aware framework, offering an inclusive, respectful path toward healthier relationships.
Importance

Cultural Suitability

Because “Islah” is well-known within Arabic-speaking and Muslim communities, “Islah Circle” speaks directly to the participants’ cultural context. Its emphasis on accountability, moral growth, and social responsibility is rooted in Islamic tradition, making it both culturally relevant and inviting for Muslim men seeking effective, faith-aligned behaviour change.
